My dear friend, I greet you in the name of our Lord and our Savior Jesus Christ by whose grace I hope every member of your family is doing well. Sabbath keeping is more than staying away from work. It is more than simply sitting in a church and listening to a sermon, or lying in your bed and watching it online as as the practice today. Let me recommend something for you as part of your Sabbath observance. Indeed you may do it all during the week, but particularly on the Holy Day. The Sabbath is set aside by God to honor His work, to honor Him, His work, creation. He is the creator. When you observe the Sabbath take time and consciously and deliberately meditate on the work of creation itself. Read Genesis chapter 1, go through the entire chapter, examine every day of creation from day one to day six and also reflect on the Sabbath day. What can you learn about your God, your Savior? Surely, evidences of His character can be found in creation because the Bible says, the heavens declare the glory of God Psalm 91, The Bible also says, the earth is full of His glory, and the glory of God is His character so surely by meditating and reflecting on the act of creation itself, God may reveal to you aspects of Himself. The heart and soul of this meditation is based on a sermon I delivered at my local church last to Sabbath. Let us look at the first day of creation. Genesis 1:3, "And God said, let they be light and there was light." The light came immediately. The creator, your God, if He so chooses, can act immediately in your life, whether to answer a prayer, remove an illness, give your job, provide tuition for your student, whatever the case may be, if God so chooses, He can act immediately as He did when He made the light. But creation took six days, which means your creator, your God can also take a period of time in order to accomplish a particular goal, God could have created in one second the entire universe and the earth. He chose to take six days, which means that God can either act immediately or He can choose to act over a period of time. That choice is His, but it is critical that you understand that if God does not answer you immediately, it does not mean He has not heard you, it may mean He is working on something in your life that takes a little time or, based on your faith, the Lord may choose to respond to you immediately. But I want you to understand that the choice is entirely God's. You and I do not determine whether God works immediately or God works over a period of time. That choice is His. As you keep the Sabbath my listening friend, keep this in mind, the God who made light immediately may choose to answer your prayer immediately. For the same God took six days to create, God may choose to answer you over a period of time. The choice is up to His. Your responsibility is to trust God by faith in His word, by the obedience of faith and let God make the choice as to whether He will act immediately or over a period of time. May the Lord bless you my friend, as you meditate on creation, as you seek to learn lessons about your God, your Savior, who as he chooses may answer you immediately or make a little while before he answers. God bless you abundantly as you keep the Sabbath holy.
