“Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away.” Revelation 21:1 NKJV The Bible says in Revelation 21:1 “Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also, there was no more sea.” God will remake the earth and remake heaven. In 1 Corinthians 15 reading from verse 51, we have these words, “Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.” There will be a new heaven, a new earth and a new people. In making a new heaven and a new earth, the Creator will be creating again as verily as Genesis 1:1 says, “in the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth”. He will re-create the heaven and the earth. Spiritually, when people are converted, they are new creations. 2 Corinthians 5: 17 says “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” So, there will be a re-creation of people and a re-creation of the earth but the Sabbath which celebrates creation and salvation, does not change! Sabbath keeping now as done biblically, is absolutely suited for a perfect world and a perfect heaven. In other words, Sabbath-keeping now done biblically is perfectly suited and applies perfectly to the New World and the new heaven that God will make. This means when you and I engage in sabbath-keeping, we are engaging in a behavior that will be performed in the new heaven and the new earth. The old heaven will pass, the old earth will pass, people will be changed in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye but the Sabbath will remain, because Sabbath-keeping on this side of eternity is perfectly suited for Sabbath-keeping in the New World, there will be no change. A change in the heavens, a change in the earth, a change in people, but the Sabbath remains unchanged. My dear friend, Sabbath-keeping here, prepares you and me for Sabbath keeping in the world to come. It is a behavior that does not require change, because there is nothing wrong with the Sabbath. As you keep the Sabbath holy dear friend, remember, that what you doing now is precisely what the redeemed will do in the New World. May the Lord bless you as you keep the Sabbath holy with this consciousness and obedience to your Creator.
