‘The’ Seventh Day, Not ‘A’ Seventh Day

Greetings my listening friend, I hope you're very well and all members of your family. I am speaking to you from the most northwesterly section of the state of Minnesota. It is a very rural area, consequently I hope that this message gets through to you. 

When reading the Bible, accept the plain meaning of the verse unless there is obvious evidence that the text is symbolic. For instance, Genesis chapter 2, readings from verse one---Thus, the heavens and the earth, and all the host of them, were finished. And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done. Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made. (Genesis 2:1-3)

I'll read that again and I'll emphasize a word listen carefully. “Thus, the heavens and the earth, and all the host of them, were finished. And on THE seventh day God ended His work which He had done, and He rested on THE seventh day from all His work which He had done. Then God blessed THE seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made.” (Genesis 2:1-3)

You’ll observed that the text uses the definite article, THE seventh! THE seventh! ,THE seventh!. Surely it means a specific day, it does not say “a seventh” which is an argument some people use to justify keeping any day of the week. The Bible does not call for a seventh day, it calls for the seventh day, meaning that one has to ask the question: Which day is this that is referred to so specifically? 

Listen to the wording of the fourth commandment: “Remember THE Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but THE seventh day is THE Sabbath of the LORD your God.” ( Exodus 20:8-10)

 The message is very simple my listing friend, the Bible calls for us to observe a specific day, it is THE seventh day which is THE sabbath of the Lord thy God, it is not a sabbath or a seventh day. If that were the case, Monday or Wednesday or Thursday would suffice because each of the seven days is a seventh of the week but only one is THE Seventh.

 I call upon you in the name of Jesus and because you love Him, keep the seventh day Sabbath not a seventh day, a seventh day is your choice but the seventh day is God’s choice. As you keep the Sabbath holy which is the seventh day of the week. May the Lord bless you for your faithfulness to Him. May the Lord bless you for reading His word honestly. And may the Lord bless you and prepare you for a place in His kingdom where forever and ever, the seventh day will be the sabbath that all flesh observe as they worship God from week to week. May the Lord bless you, as you keep the Sabbath day holy.
