CRANE: I believe there is a clarification that is needed here. Fear Toxin is not used to treat fear, as a means of rehabilitation but FT is utilised as a tool FOR rehabilitation. Years ago, I gave a lecture on Phobias and Fear Association at Gotham City University. I called up a member of the audience and with a few simple questions, I discovered the young woman's deepest fear. If memory serves it was spiders, but that's irrelevant. Through a subtle use of FT, I was able to associate her phobia with anything I wanted, which in this case, was a courthouse. Completely random, I assure you. From that point on, whenever courthouses were mentioned, the patient – excuse me, the volunteer – would revert to a panicked state. Elevated heartrate, dilation of the pupil, etc., and would immediately insist the conversation was taken in another direction. It was, by all means, a success in my eyes. However, the young woman in question did not share my opinion. I was served with a lawsuit the following year for 'mental and emotional distress', but it never made it to trial. Curious. So, when one is able to associate fear with a felon’s previous offences, it instantly removes the desire to reoffend for fear of, well, whatever I choose. There have been, of course, difficulties in pinpointing specific triggers in which to associate the fear. For example, you can’t make a bank robber afraid of banks. That becomes too debilitating for someone hoping to reintegrate into society. Perhaps a fear of wearing a stocking over one’s face? Too specific. All masks? Oh, that’s too vague. Return to this on a later date. Logged as Entry: Cra- (knocking at the door; Ikky squawks) CRANE: Come in. ???: Buon giorno, Dottore Crane. CRANE: Good evenin’ to you. Professor, even? LUCENZO: Lucenzo is fine. I will take my leave now, Dottore. I shall see you at our, uh... appointment. CRANE: Very well, Lucenzo. Until next time. LUCENZO: Buonanotte, Dottore.
