Podcast Script: Distinctively Nazarene – Divine Healing, Christ’s Return, and Our Final Destiny [Intro] Hello, and welcome back! Today, we’re wrapping up this series with an overview of three important topics: divine healing, the second coming of Christ, and our final destiny. These lessons remind us of God’s care for us in this life, His promise to return, and the hope we have for eternity. Let’s dive in! [Segment 1: Divine Healing – God Cares for Our Bodies] The Church of the Nazarene believes in the Bible doctrine of divine healing. Our statement of faith is simple: “We believe in the Bible doctrine of divine healing and urge our people to seek to offer the prayer of faith for the healing of the sick. We also believe God heals through the means of medical science.” This statement affirms two key truths. First, God cares about our physical bodies. While some throughout history have viewed the body as evil, we believe that what God created is good and that He cares about the things that cause us pain. When we pray for healing, we do so trusting in God’s love and concern for us. Second, we affirm that God is a God who acts. He is free to work miraculously, but He also works through medical science. Doctors, nurses, and medicines are part of God’s provision for healing. However, we also recognize that God doesn’t always heal in the way we hope. Sometimes, His kingdom is best served through our weakness, and in those moments, we pray as Jesus did: “Not my will, but Yours be done.” Ultimately, we know that this physical world is not the ultimate one. God’s ultimate healing is found in the redemption of our souls and the promise of eternal life. [Segment 2: Christ’s Return – Living in Hopeful Expectation] The second coming of Christ is a central hope for Christians. The Bible references it over 300 times, and Jesus Himself spoke often about His return. After His ascension, two angels told the disciples: “This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into Heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen Him go into Heaven” (Acts 1:11). As Nazarenes, we believe that Jesus will return, and those who are alive at His coming will join the risen saints to be with the Lord forever. While the Bible gives us glimpses of what this will look like, it doesn’t provide a detailed timeline. Instead, we are called to live in readiness, knowing that His return could happen at any moment. How should we live in light of this? We should be watchful, live with hopeful expectation, and share the Good News with urgency. For Christians, Christ’s return is not something to fear but something to look forward to with joy. As Revelation 22:20 says, “Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.” [Segment 3: Our Final Destiny – Heaven and Hell] The final topic in our series is one that can feel uncomfortable but is essential to our faith: our eternal destiny. The Bible is clear that every person will one day stand before God and be held accountable for their actions. Those who have followed Jesus will receive eternal life, while those who have rejected Him will face eternal separation from God. Hell is described as a place of fire, torment, and separation from God. It’s a sobering reality, but it reminds us of the seriousness of sin and the consequences of rejecting God’s love. On the other hand, Heaven is a place of great reward, beauty, and eternal fellowship with God. While we often think of streets of gold and heavenly mansions, the most important part of Heaven is being with God forever. This lesson isn’t about gloom and doom—it’s a message of hope. John 3:16-17 reminds us that God’s desire is for everyone to find eternal life through Him. He loves us so much that He gave His Son, Jesus, to make a way for us to be with Him forever. [Closing] As we close this series, remember that God cares for you in every way—physically, spiritually, and eternally.
