The city's next Jiro-style ramen restaurant is on the approach. Ramen Tabatai is set to touch down in Yorkville soon, in the same building as MSSM, the sushi joint run by Chef Masaki Saito, owner of Toronto's only two Michelin-starred restaurant, Sushi Masaki Saito. There's a fun new bar about to land on Dundas West. Introducing Uh. The concept: None. What to expect: Good drinks and music just about cover it. And the name? Sure to inspire interesting convos when it comes to making plans. "Where are we going tonight?"; "Uh." "Where?"; "Uh."; Oh boy. Hands up if you remember a similar dilemma when going to 'The Office' in the Entertainment District back in the day. Fun fact: Speaking of Yorkville joints, it's joining the same strip as MSSM's recently launched Dundas outpost. The movement on Ossington continues. I reported on The Dakota Tavern's temporary closure back in October. Get ready for a new watering hole, Mickey Limbos, to take its place. I've been documenting restaurants changing ownership left and right lately. Le Sélect Bistro has had quite the journey over its nearly 50-year history: Moving from Queen West to Wellington, a closure, then reopening in 2022 under new ownership, restaurateur David Aisenstat and Scale Hospitality, the Toronto group behind destinations including Toronto Beach Club and Miss Likklemore's to name a few. The French restaurant is no longer a part of Scale. It's now under The CFW Group, which counts establishments on the west coast in Vancouver and Beverly Hills, as well as Toronto's own decades-old Ki Modern Japanese + Bar and The Shore Club amongst its portfolio. And that's not all. More places in the area are reportedly in the works. Stay tuned. Fun facts: The CFW Group's eastern office is just up the street from the French restaurant. And the company's founder and CEO: David  Aisenstat. BREAKING NEWS: Speaking of The Shore Club, its long-standing digs on Wellington next to The Ritz-Carlton are no more. Signage has been removed, it's been marked 'Permanently Closed' on Google, and the Toronto location is no longer listed on the website. The one in Ottawa's Westin Hotel remains.
