The Tip Off - Edition 3 The large space that was formerly home to Superfresh, the Asian food hall in The Annex, is now Blanco Cantina, a massive Mexican restaurant complete with lots of tequila, tacos, tableside guacamole, and other grub. The expansive outpost is part of a chain from the west coast, boasting five locations in Alberta and two in Saskatchewan. Doors open January 13th. Speaking of Mexican restaurants, the old Dominion Hotel on Queen East is about to welcome Los Gyros, marking the second location for the eatery on Sheppard West known for "100 percent Mexican al pastor meat and variety of tacos, cocktails, and more." And speaking of hotels, two downtown locations are switching out their restos for different concepts. The Delta Hotel has said goodbye to their large capacity SOCO Kitchen + Bar with new ventures slated to launch in their place in March. And one of the W Hotel's outfits, Public School - a commingling of cafe, bar and restaurant - has shut down to make way for something new. Wild, considering the city's first W Hotel only touched down in Summer '22. I've been tracking a lot of changes at Queen and Dovercourt lately, including a Michelin. Note: See my 'No One Covers The City Like This' post on Instagram. Introducing your new favourite haunt: Jamil's Chaat House - a former pop-up turned alluring destination by Jalil Bokhari and Emma Tanaka. Think Pakistani inspired fare, natty wines, and cocktails. Stay tuned for opening details. Did you know? It lands in what was recently Ramona's, which as I broke the story this past summer, shuttered suddenly after being opened for a shockingly brief time.
